The Menorca of the Menorcans: Where they spend the summer

It is said that to get to know a place thoroughly you must meet the locals since they are the ones who have the real secrets of the place. That is why today we bring you 5 of the places where Menorcans spend the summer: places where you will find the hidden magic of Menorca; places where you will be able to enjoy the summer like a true Menorcan. Let's begin!

Es Grau

Es GrauLocated in the northeast of the island, we find this small urban center that, just 9.5 km from Mahón, is one of the favorite destinations of Menorcans. Due to its typical Menorcan style, its fine sand beach ideal for the little ones in the family, or its proximity to the capital, Es Grau is one of the special places that Menorcans take most into account when choosing their summer stay.

Es Grau also has the lagoon; which is the most important natural park in Menorca, where you can take several routes to watch birds or enjoy the tranquillity of the moment. From the town, you can also see la Illa den Colom, an utterly virgin island, the largest in Menorca, ideal for excursions, either arriving by kayak or with a boat that covers the route every hour.

And as with most of the places chosen by Menorcans to spend the summer, it isn't easy to find a property for sale, but right now in Portal Menorca, you can find this impressive renovated house in Es Grau that you have to visit no matter what.

Alcaufar

AlcaufarWe now move to the southeast of the island to reach Alcaufar, a small town of approximately 130 inhabitants and a lot of history. Alcaufar was the cove where the French landed in 1756 to conquer the island from the British. Also, Alcaufar was opened in 1954 what was considered the first beach hotel in Menorca, which they called "Xuroy".

Alcaufar has several restaurants and a small shop where you will be able to find everything from basic products to precious handicrafts, ideal for decorating your home or giving gifts. It is also very close to Sant Lluís, so if you need to get something specific you can choose to visit the town. The beach is not particularly crowded, and its cove is rather closed and protected, so you will be able to enjoy the white sand and crystal clear water in peace.

Right now we have a spectacular farm for sale in Alcaufar located no more than 250 meters from the beach that can become your ideal refuge, especially if you consider turning it into an agritourism, as it has incredible potential.

Na Macaret

Na MacaretLocated in the north of the island, between Arenal d'en Castell and the port of Addaia, is the urbanization of Na Macaret, small urbanization whose center is the homonymous beach. Formed by the typical Menorcan white houses, it was one of the first places that Menorcans chose to spend the summer, in photographs from 1932 you can already see some buildings (some of which are still standing today).

From Na Macaret you can access the viewpoint of sa Punta de sa Torre where you will be able to find one of the most beautiful panoramas of the north coast, you can also take a walk through the nearby Port d'Addaia where you will find a more touristy atmosphere that contrasts with the family that you will find in Na Macaret.

Na Macaret is the ideal place if you want to settle in a quiet and familiar urbanization and start collecting memories like a Menorcan. That is why we bring you this large plot in Na Macaret where you will be able to design your ideal holiday home with sea views, in a typical environment of Menorca.

Sa Caleta

Sa Caleta We now move to the west, specifically, to Sa Caleta, the place chosen par excellence among the Ciutadellencs to spend their vacations. Located a few minutes from Ciutadella, this urbanization has an urban beach, with access for the disabled, as well as all the necessary services.

Sa Caleta beach also has a beach bar and a small soccer field, which makes it ideal if you go with children. Being located near Ciutadella allows us to move easily to get to know the city, as well as some of the nearby beaches or the Artrutx Lighthouse. Perfectly located a step away from the beach, we bring you this spectacular villa in Sa Caleta. Recently built and distributed over two floors, it will delight anyone who wants to spend the summer in a place as special and full of magic as Sa Caleta.

Binisafúller

BinisafúllerWe return to the east to reach Binisafuller, in Sant Lluís, located surrounding the beach of the same name as this quiet urbanization near Binibeca Vell. Very well located if you like to go on excursions on foot and ideal if you prefer to swim in coves with crystal clear water. In addition, in the area, you can see spectacular sunsets.

Due to its proximity to Sant Lluís you will be able to count on many amenities, in addition to the urbanization there are several restaurants. In addition, the southern area of Menorca is perfect for water activities, so settling in Binisafuller is always a good option.
